Well, Found has been updated recently- if you haven't read through chapter nine, then please do so before reading these two chapters. They go together, and are the modernized version of "The Speckled Band." Holmes and Watson face their most gruesome case yet, and end up as school celebrities!
Now, as for the fic I'd like to recommend this week. "You Know How It Always Upset Mummy" by StrawberryFields4EverAndAlways is a beautiful story that explores Sherlock's childhood and the trials of his and Mycroft's mother. It is based on the BBC series, but can be enjoyed by any Sherlockian.
Well, until next time...

Back from Chicago, and Back to Writing!
Hey, guys, I'm back! And just since yesterday, I have updated "Another Story," "Found," and "A Mere Appendix." Please check out the new chapters! And who else is excited for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2? I may write a little something in honor of the end of the series, but I can't be sure.
XOXO,
Kathleen

New Story:)
Hey everyone! So, I edited my previous posts with links to the newest chapters of "Found" and "Another Story." I just posted that new Sherlock Holmes fic I mentioned. I gave it the very original title of "A Mere Appendix", (which is the name of the C2 I got the prompts from lol) and as I said yesterday, the first story is 'desperate.' I added a bit of parallel between the present and Holmes' childhood, and I'm really very happy with it:)
The second prompt is 'angry.' I'm not quite sure yet what I want to do for that one, but I will have plenty of time to think about it this weekend. I leave for Chicago on Friday morning, and will have about 5 hours in the car to contemplate ideas while I listen to my iPod. Music always helps me brainstorm!
So, I think this may be the last post until Monday, but I may get a little time in to write. (Hopefully)
XOXO,
Kathleen

Update to "Second Chances"
Hey, everyone! Last night, I got to work on "Second Chances," and have posted chapter 10. Please check it out! Also, I forgot to mention yesterday that I am also working on the sequel to my fic, "The Ring", with fellow writer I 4 2 Write. She is currently writing chapter 8, but you reach the rest of the story here. "The Ring" is a time-travel story, in which I (it's a self-insert) come into possession of a time-travel ring, and venture back to the 1880's to meet Erik. Hilarity ensues as I try to balance my life in the past and the present- and to keep it secret from my jealous ex-boyfriend.
"Another Story," the sequel, is more of a follow-up, in which Erik has died and I become Lon Chaney's acting coach. Of course, he thinks I'm just a crazy old woman... until we find another ring, and he has the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet his character.
EDIT: I 4 2 Write sent me the new chapter today, so here it is!
For each blog post I write, I would like to recommend a great fanfic I've found. Today, I'd like to tell you about "The Sound of Bees" by Medorikoi. It's a rather long one-shot, but so full of emotion that it's guaranteed to make you cry. If you like Holmes/Watson slash, and romances like "The Notebook," then you are sure to enjoy this story.
On another note, I've decided on the plot of my first one-shot for the "A Mere Appendix" challenge. I'm using the second prompt table. The first prompt is 'desperate,' and what do you think of this? It starts with a flashback to the death of Holmes' mother. Then, it transcends into Holmes at Watson's bedside. Watson has caught the flu from one of his patients, and isn't doing well at all. Holmes desperately prays for him to recover and... well, I'll leave the end a secret.
That's it for now. I am going to work on "Found" tonight. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to re-title it?
EDIT: Just posted the new chapter of Found. Holmes and Watson have a really weird morning in "A Scandal in Bohemia."
XOXO,
Kathleen

Well, let's see how this goes...
I got the idea to make this blog after seeing how other writers on FFN used them as publicity of sorts, and to let the readers know how they are coming on their stories. That is the purpose of my little blog. If you're here, I'm going to assume that you read my fanfiction. For that, I thank you! I would be nothing without your support. If you just happened across this blog, then I'm going to be a review whore and beg you to read my work. You can reach my fanfiction here.
I write for the following fandoms: "The Phantom of the Opera," my eternal love; "Sherlock Holmes," my newest addiction; and "Les Miserables." I got into writing through "Avatar: The Last Airbender." Actually, my original username on FFN was Avatarlover1. I have recently left that fandom for good, in order to pursue my others.
With that said, I would love to discuss the ideas I'm working on right now. My biggest project is "Found," (I'm hoping to re-title it soon) a Sherlock Holmes modern-day fic, with a female Watson. It's been relatively well received, and I have lots of ideas for upcoming chapters. I am trying to stick to canon- so far, Holmes has investigated the "Study in Scarlet." Oh, did I mention that he's a high-schooler from my home town?
I always try to include Marion, Ohio in my stories somehow. It's not a very well-known place, but I love it nonetheless. There's so much history! We happen to be the hometown of President Warren G. Harding, and the Popcorn Capital of the world! The characters even attend my high school, Marion Harding High.
My other projects include "Second Chances," a Phantom of the Opera fic, and two series of "Les Miserables" one-shots. "Second Chances" is a modern-day follow-up to Phantom, but with a twist: Erik and Raoul have been granted a second chance by the Angel of Music, and are engaged in trying to win over the reincarnation of Christine. The issue? She's an engaged woman of the 21st century who has no desire to be with either of them.
My "Les Miz" stories are based on both the book and the current U.S. Tour, which is absolutely fantastic! I focus primarily on my favorite characters: Grantaire, Javert, Enjolras, Eponine, and Marius. Yes, I LOVE Marius! He's so sweet! Come to think of it, I also adore Raoul...
I'm also planning on doing the LJ challenge, "A Mere Appendix." Aleine Skyfire over at FFN did it in her story, "At the Mercy of the Mind." Read it! Right now! She has published it for the Amazon Kindle. I highly recommend buying it- the FFN version only has 50 one-shots. The completed book has 100. And all of them are amazing! But I digress. I want to try my hand at it- and while I'm well aware mine won't be nearly as good as hers, it seems like a load of fun.
That's it for now. I'll try and update at least once a week, to let you guys know what's going on. I will also continue to post important links. On my FFN profile, I have a list of all the websites I frequent, and links to my pages at each of them. Feel free to contact me, and my email address is on my FFN page as well.
One more thing... You may be wondering why my blog is called "A Wandering Mind." It's a play on my favorite song from Phantom, "Wandering Child." My FFN username is WanderingChild96. But you can call me Kathleen.
XOXO,
Kathleen L.
